GUERARD
De père en fils depuis 1820
Established in 1820, the company offers innovation
and tradition.
In 1908, after having pioneered revolutionary
pyrotechnics systems and components, Henri
Guerard develops maritime
signal flares and creates a line-throwing rocket driven by reaction
propulsion.
(Maritime Pyrotechnics signals and fireworks are produced at the
same time).

En 1928, Emilie
Guerard, a French
researcher and a passionate inventor, raises an interest in pyrotechnics
"The Art of Fire".
In 1945, Robert
Guerard, develops distress
signals and life saving equipment and gets the products certified.
He becomes the firs and only French manufacturer specializing in
Pyrotechnic.
That same year, the International Convention for the safety of
life at sea specifies the statutory requirements for pyrotechnic
signals and makes them compulsory on board ship.
During the following years, the requirement for ships to be equipped
with distress signals is extended to fishing vessels and sailing
boats.
In 1960, Philippe
Guerard develops a new
range of high performance pyrotechnic signals using solid propellant
(armament) into his rocket propulsion systems. That same year he
invents and lunches a durable smoke flare buoy "man overboard"
as well as a line-throwing device for life saving applications
on ships.
As years go by, "recognized for his innovating mind" Philippe
Guerard ultimate goal is to ensure life saving at sea and
to maitain product quality.
Proud of its achievements and skills in pyrotechnics,
the firm obtains inthe 80's the RAQ2 (SIAR/armament) certifications
for its products and quality asurance, and fully complies withe
the requirements of Solas regulations.
In 2000, the starts working closely with
a certified organisatio to manufacture systems to ISO 9002 standars
(International Organization for Sandardization). Each product is
regularly tested and assessed for quality control and durability.
In 1990, Pierre-Henri
Guerard develops a
complete range of "Rescue, Safety and Survival" equipment. This
new concept offers, optimum security, quality improvement, cost
effect and performance, and is a perfect complement to the pyrotechnic
distress signals range.
At the same time important measures have
been developed to pick up distress signals, search and rescue (CROSS/
SIAR / SNSM...).
The success of these organizations will depend on the help of those
being rescued, to provide the following details :
- Safety alert signals usign radio alarm
signal, visual distress signals, electric smoke signals, etc.
- Guiding signals using hand-held flares
and smoke signals emitted form a distress flare.
